DIRECTV LLC has an opening for an IT Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administrator in our office at El Segundo, CA.
Job duties: Serve as a technical expert responsible for design, implementation, integration, and administration of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), RIO Reporting database (RRD) and data marts. Develop, test, monitor, manage and validate data warehouse activity including data extraction, movement, loading, cleansing, updating, and backup and recovery. Ensure the data repositories perform well for reporting and analytics and meets service level requirements. Promote the value and potential of BI across the Enterprise, understand how information is used to drive strategic and tactical decisions for the Business, and understand what questions the Business wants to ask and why. Conduct job duties/responsibilities according to BI Life Cycle methodology. Conduct analysis; scope; estimate time to develop data management solutions. Develop detail data design for final solution that adheres to business/technical requirements; ensure information is provided in most timely/efficient method. Identify issues; recommend initiatives to address data quality/data integrity. Troubleshoot databases/software; performance-tune (as necessary). Work closely with Vendors/ IT counterpart to monitor/tune environment. Lead in establishment/maintenance of Data Warehouse infrastructure. Adhere to standards/strategic objectives; meet committed timeframes/schedules. Assume ownership of one/more data elements; point of contact in BI for information about origins/revisions to those data elements. Assess/cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI/Data Warehouse environment in conjunction with Business/BI team/other stakeholders. Direct, organize, lead Data Warehouse infrastructure projects (such as hardware migration; software upgrades, and setting up BI Process Development methodology) Conduct research; make recommendations on BI products/services/standards. Present DIRECTV BI Data Warehouse solutions at industry conferences. Mentor and/or provide leadership to members of BI team. Ability to put together a team of resources to complete a project from end to end. Perform acting manager responsibilities. Responsible for managing and supporting production databases in high performance, highly available, and mission critical database platforms.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, physics or related field followed by 5 years progressive post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or computer-related occupation. Experience must include: 1. five years experience with Relational Database administration in a production environment working in a Teradata 24x7 Production Environment 6
years Teradata Product Design, Development and Architecture experience and Professional Teradata certification are required. 2. five years of experience working with UNIX/Linux operating system. 3. Experience with state of the art application server environments/enterprise integration technologies. 4. Teradata partitioning schemes/pruning/PI/NUPI/NUSI/JI and experienced on appropriateness of using these technologies within the data warehouse. 5. SQL tuning; instance tuning; storage tuning .6. GoldenGate replication based solutions such as clustered failover for minimum downtime in a near real time environment. Experienced in setting up GoldenGate Monitor and Director. 7. Oracle Data Integration CAB. 8. experience in data management in a Data Warehouse setting; experience with data warehouse lifecycles/methodologies Teradata Metadata services, COGNOS metadata repository, and Informatica metadata integration. 9. MS Office Professional Suite(Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project/VISIO). 10. EDW data modeling practice (3NF). 11. five years experience in Kimball Data Warehouse Methodology (Star Schema).
