PROTOCOL SPECIALIST

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, for GS-0301, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of protocol regulations, methods, and practices to advise on and ensure complete consideration and proper treatment afforded distinguished visitors and ranking personnel; knowledge of AF missions, organizational structure, functions, operations and base support offices, as well as major government agencies and industrial interfaces to analyze and coordinate a variety of protocol activities; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and to apply considerable tact and diplomacy in personal contacts with senior level personnel and visitors; knowledge and skill in applying the principles, practices and aspects of budget formulation, justification and execution. OR EDUCATION:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE:

You must submit a copy of official transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of methods, practices, and techniques of protocol to enable the incumbent to function as technical authority to develop and execute protocol requirements. 2. Knowledge of military and civilian protocol etiquette. 3. Knowledge of the headquarters and base organizations such as services, transportation, and air operations to plan and coordinate visits and itineraries. 4. Knowledge and skill to gather, assemble and analyze facts, draw conclusions, and devise solutions to problems. 5. Ability to coordinate with higher level organizations such as DoD, Headquarters United States Air Force (HQ USAF), and other services. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy. 7. Knowledge of appropriate security regulations, directives, and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
