The position is located in the Los Angeles Field Office, Field Operations Division, Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The LE/FAMS promotes public confidence in our Nation's civil transportation systems through effective risk-based strategic deployment of Federal Air Marshals (FAMs) and other LE/FAMS law enforcement resources in both air-and land-based mission assignments aboard U.S. air carriers, and in airports and other transportation modes within the Nation's general transportation systems. As the Assistant Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (ASAC), the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Directing the work of subordinate Supervisory Federal Air Marshals (SFAMs) and performing supervisory duties including:
assigning tasks, setting priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching and developing employee capabilities, approving leave, and taking and recommending appropriate corrective/disciplinary action; defining plans and organizing assigned resources (staff, budget, equipment, etc.) to accomplish objectives; managing budget and either reallocating resources among components or projects or requesting additional resources, as needed; projecting short-term and long-term future needs and justifying resource requirements. Functions as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and performing the duties and responsibilities assigned to the FAMS. Establishing and maintaining liaison with other federal, state and local law enforcement at all levels including those from private industry. Serving as an advisor to the field office SAC as well as consultant to other senior leadership when needed. Assisting in the planning and directing of field office FAMS activities including planning, scheduling, implementing short-and long- term strategic planning, resource management, and all aspects of FAMS law enforcement and investigations when applicable to assigned area of responsibility. Supervisory Managerial Responsibilities include:
strategic planning, communicating the organization's vision and objectives; setting priorities, assigning tasks and responsibilities, monitoring and evaluating performance of organization units, managers, and employee. To qualify for the SV-K Pay Band you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-J Pay Band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in state or local government or the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience is defined as:
Leading aviation law enforcement programs in a geographical-dispersed organization; Providing guidance and making recommendations to aviation law enforcement laws, regulations, policies and procedures; Providing law enforcement briefings and reports; and Applying the provisions of the Aviation Transportation Security Act (ATSA) and demonstrating executive level experience in aviation domain law enforcement issues and operations. LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT:
This position may require the selectee to carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime or domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g) (9)). A misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is generally defined under the statute as any offense involving the use or attempted use of physical force, or the threatened use of a deadly weapon, committed by the victim's current or former domestic partner, parent, or guardian. The term convicted, as defined in the statute, excludes any person whose conviction has been expunged, set-aside, or pardoned or any person whose civil rights have been restored unless the pardon, expungement, or restoration of civil rights expressly prohibits the possession of firearms or ammunition. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence within the meaning of the referenced statute are not qualified for this position. Applicants under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense. False or fraudulent information provided by applicants is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 1001). National Service Experience (i.e., Volunteer experience):

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
